Pasos Milagrosos was founded by

pastime of riding and exploring near
their Lake Chapala home.

Pasos Milagrosos (Miraculous Steps) is an all-volunteer, non-profit organization licensed by the Mexican government. It was founded by Paul and Elaine Cooper in February of 2007.

Some might say that Pasos offers equine therapy free of charge to children with a variety of disabilities in the Lake Chapala area of southwestern Mexico, and that pretty much sums it up. However, that is just the beginning of the story! Underlying that description are real faces...entire families, each with their own story to tell.

Many of the disabled children in the Pasos program come from rural, low-income homes. The absence of programs for special-needs children in the area left little to brighten or enrich the lives of these children—until Pasos Milagrosos entered the picture.

Although each of Pasos Milagrosos’ 40 plus volunteers comes from a different background, all seem to have found a personal fulfillment in the program that goes beyond words. Helping these children and their families, and seeing the resulting success stories and miraculous experiences are what it is all about for the Coopers and their volunteers.

Pasos Milagrosos began in Feb. 2007 with 6 children; today it serves 20 children, and 15 more remain on a waiting list. Since its inception, Pasos Milagrosos’ successes have grown dramatically along with the organization’s needs. It depends on your support and the time of its gracious volunteers. We invite you to explore our site, meet “our kids” and read below to see how you can help us create even more miraculous steps.
